This miniature egg decorated with enameling, is reminiscent of the style of Carl Faberge (1846-1920), renowned for his artistic jeweled eggs as Easter gifts from the Tzar to the Tzarina.
In Christian Tradition, the egg is an emblem of Easter, symbolic of hope and resurrection. In Hebrew tradition, a roasted egg was served at the Passover feast to symbolize the sacrifice, which was brought to the Temple on joyful events.
